Asteroid Name Search
Is there an asteroid named with your name? Are you looking for a unique customised gift?
There are currently approximately 720,000 asteroids identified, of which around 425,000 have been given designated numbers and 31,700 proper names. We can undertake a search through the official registers of the MPC (Minor Planet Centre) and IAU (International Astronomical Union) to find if an asteroid has your name. This could be perhaps your first name or surname, or that of a relative or friend, or your company.
If so, we can produce a picture suitable for framing (A4 size) giving a summary of the information we know about this asteroid. This will include, where known: name; designation and type of asteroid; discovery information; orbital schematic; orbital parameters; close approach data; nature and composition.
The picture is available in either light blue or pale yellow background. An example of the pale yellow background can be seen at the foot of this page, with the light blue example shown here:-

We strongly urge our customers not to ‘buy’ an asteroid or star name, or use any supposed service which allows you to name or have named for you any astronomical object. Any registers private individuals or companies offer are unofficial and unrecognised. You are not buying a star name; such schemes are a scam.
