School presentations and enrichment courses
Our astronomer is available to give entertaining and educational talks on various aspects of the sun and the asteroids. He has talked, and taught, in schools in both England and Scotland.  He is available to give one-off end-of-term events, motivational speech-day talks, specific curriculum topic talks, or a short course as part of the school enrichment programme.

We will only charge £30 (schools) plus reasonable travel and materials expenses for one-off presentations. Please contact us for prices for enrichment courses (these are dependent upon the scope and scale of the enrichment you may have in mind)

Topics typically available for presentation include:

  • Where on Earth is the Earth? – our place in the Universe

  • Asteroids and the death of the dinosaurs

  • Mars missions; Space weather and the effects of the Sun, on Earth and astronauts

  • The physics of the Sun (Highers/’A’ level)

  • An introduction to applied maths in astronomy (Highers/’A’ level)

  • To infinity and beyond! And yes, we can go beyond (Highers/’A’ level)

  • Space, the final frontier - but where's the door to get out there?

  • Follow your dreams to the stars - An astronomer's journey

Topics and classes will be taught at the median level of students’ abilities which will be discussed and agreed beforehand with the curriculum lead and/or head of department & class teacher.

Our astronomer holds enhanced DBS certification.
