We are a small independent team working on astronomical research and promoting the enjoyment and science of astronomy. Astronomy is about understanding things above the atmosphere. It is the fascinating, intriguing and often mysterious science of celestial objects, space and how the Universe ‘works’.

Our purpose for Observatoire Solaire is to share our knowledge and passion for this most captivating of sciences. We do this through our talks, books, guides, and by writing about our researches.
Astro walks and talks
Have you looked up at the night sky and wondered how the stars got there, what they are and why they are called what they are? Or perhaps on a day in the sunshine you’ve reflect on the heat of the Sun, how does it work, and how does it compare to the stars we see at night.
Join us for one of our night-time strolls across the heavens. You will learn about the nature and some of the mythology of the stars and constellations. Or if you’re not a night-person, join us for a daytime guided observation and explanation of our star, the Sun.

Asteroid Impacts
Our field research area is the asteroid impact 201 million years ago which obliterated the region we now call Limousin, in France.
Join us for an interactive, hands-on, description from an astrophysicist on the dangers, likelihood and consequences for life on Earth if an asteroid were to hit the Earth today. It has happened many times in the past, and it will happen again day in the future. But when?
